Comalectric (formerly known as Academy of the Stallenlab) is an experimental project with musicians Gus Stevenson and Michael Allen. It involves experimentation with sound and its manipulation. This has included using found objects as musical instruments, running microphones through various distortion and effect systems, and manipulation of feedback to create interesting sounds. The direction of this collaboration is uncertain as it is still very new, however we are producing several audio recordings, and new samples will be posted here.

We are currently experimenting with the interconnection of various input/output devices (ie. input of mixing board to output of computer, and vice versa) to create feedback rhythms, waves, and loops. A few examples of the results are displayed in "Shocklee 2" and "HRDCR."

Audio Recordings:

Portion of Jam Session (Dec. 11, 2003) (9:42)
Gus plays keyboards, while Mike manipulates an effects-laden microphone.
Shocklee 2 (Repeating Feedback Waves and Rhythms) (3:19)
A result of input/output feedback.
Lat Iso Ion (1:21)
A four minute song was condensed to a few seconds, then stretched out again, and run at three different tones.
Lectro (:51)
An electricity sound effect run trough a reverb filter at various tones.
HRDCR (Feedback Waves and Rhythms with Interspersed Conversation)(3:09)
A result of input/output feedback. We used a microphone in this one, so you can hear us talking at certain points.
Water (:42)
May sound like a strange electronic instrument, but it's actually a looped clip of the word "water" run forwards in one channel, backwards in the other, at three octaves.
